Hi @Bolsderac

which version of Transistor are you using? I am asking because Transistor does not Android Auto anymore. So I am wondering if the features you are describing are Android Auto features or just normal media session features.

Okay. And to test the issue, I would need to activate the Car user interface for Google Maps, right?

yes. for testing, you don't need smartphone connected to car board computer through android auto.
it's possible to test through google car mode you can activate from google maps parameters. and you follow screenshots below.

I can confirm this. No logos and titles are displayed. Stations can be played without problems.

Tested with real Android Auto in my vehicle. It looks exactly like the pictures of @Bolsderac

Hi @jamal2362

That is strange I thought that only Google Play Apps can be used with Android Auto.

@Bolsderac Just a quick note. As of today I was not able to bring up Transistor within Google Maps. I did activate the settings you highlighted. And I started navigation in Maps. I'll try it on my wife's phone in the next couple of days.

Hi, it is possible to use Transistor on Android Auto if you have unknown sources enabled in the Android Auto Developer settings.

To enable:

  1. Go to Android Auto settings, tap Version about 10 times to enable Developer settings
  2. Tap the hamburger menu in the upper right and tap developer settings
  3. Enable unknown sources.

Transistor should be available in Android Auto the next time you launch it.

Hi, i don't need to enable developer settings to be able to use Transistor with Android Auto. In addition and for the moment, I use VLC with m3u playlist for better integration with Android auto to listen to the radio. thank you

Hi @all

I still did not find the time to set up Android Auto properly.

But I made a couple of changes and tested them afterwards using the media controller test app.

In this app the "Now Playing" data is displayed and the station cover image, too.

The changes are part of v4.1.5, which should appear on F-Droid in the next couple of days.

If anyone here updated to v4.1.5 ... I would like to hear any feedback.

Looks good.
Very good job! @y20k

Everything is now ok with Google Maps in drive mode.
Station images and the title now shows.

I will test it later with real Android Auto Hardware in my car.
I will continue to give feedbacks.

I found an issue.

The playing time is always on 0:00

It does not count up. It would be nice if it would indicate the time you listen to the station.

Is that possible ?

Just a question: in my previous car and if I connect with headunit reloaded, I can see and use transistor just fine, but in my new car I don't see it.
The option "unknown sources" in android auto makes no difference.
Could it be possible that the car somehow allows only whitelisted apps?
