Reference list formatting has changed (apparently due to Hugo or blogdown upgrade) #1

I have been using the same CSL (static/bib/materials-chemistry-and-physics.csl) for a while.

After the latest Hugo or blogdown upgrade (unclear which) the reference links in the text have changed (to the better!) but the formatting of the reference list has also changed (now uses a newline after the number, which I don't like).

I wonder if there's some setting to restore the old behaviour of the reference list, or if we need to find another CSL?

Before, it looked like this:

[1] I. Ucar, E. Pebesma, A. Azcorra, Measurement errors in R, R J. 10 (2018) 549–557. https://doi.org/10.32614/RJ-2018-075.
[2] E. Pebesma, T. Mailund, J. Hiebert, Measurement units in R, The R Journal. 8 (2016) 486–494. https://doi.org/10.32614/RJ-2016-061.

Now, it looks like this:
