apparently gcc-424-libgcc-visibility.patch doesnt work.
the effect is that zlib, which is built before the stage1 compiler, pulls the libgcc symbols it needs into the library. this causes the dropbear build to fail.
workaround is to rebuild zlib after the stage1 gcc is built.
