[off topic?] Why did you choose Code Base over GitLab, or any other public Git site? #51

I am dying to know.

Is there any reason not to be using GitLab? I know why I should not be using MS-GitHub - it is nonfree.

  • GitLab doesn't work with LibreJS, and requires lots of JavaScript
  • GitLab.com requires reCAPTCHA to sign up
  • GitLab.com doesn't work well with Tor
  • GitLab EE, which is used on GitLab.com, is nonfree
  • GitLab.com uses Cloudflare
  • The GitLab Git repo includes nonfree software (GitLab EE)

Is there any reason not to use Codeberg?

Not that I know of. I was just curious because I was recommended GitLab a while back, but now I see it is not so recommended.

Thank you for answering the question!

Yeah, gitlab is a very poor platform to use. I would argue it's worse than github in many areas.
