#38 Verify Keyoxide url on Mastodon profile

Recently, a feature has been implemented to allow verification of Mastodon account via a Keyoxide url to a profile containing the OpenPGP fingerprint. Another feature has been sugested in another issue by @KubikPixel to verify the Keyoxide profile on Mastodon. This is done by adding the anchor tag to the webpage that is being verified like this one.

<a rel="me" href="https://mastodon.technology/@dusansimic">Mastodon</a>

I thinks this could be done since we are already verifying the proof and we could just add the tag to the document once it’s verified. I would show a green checkmark next to the Keyoxide profile url.

This is already being done. If you check any mastodon proof, it will have the “rel=me”.

The reason Mastodon isn’t able to verify this and give the green tick is because Mastodon acts like a bot: it simply fetches the page and checks for the “rel=me” link. However, this isn’t present in the page when fetched because Keyoxide designed as such that the browser does all the heavy lifting.

I have been aware of this side-effect for a bit and I am working on a solution. I too would love me a green tick link on my Mastodon page!

Fantastic, I figured that there needs to be at least server side rengering for the anchor tag. As I understand, you’re already working on this so if there’s anything I can help out here, I’m here 😁.
