Issue to discuss the JJ logo.

Issue to discuss the JJ logo.

Somehow my eye always goes to I. Really like it, it isn't as "classical" as most of the others and really feels like it invites the "viewer" to get into action, which is exactly what you'd want here. But I think the white J's could be a lot more appealing with a different font.

Edit: What about using F's font in I?

Thanks @poVoq for uploading the logos!

I don't have many strong feelings about all them. I think I'd rather list those I like less and be happy if there's one within the rest that gets choosen.

  • H.1, D.1: I find the color association a bit awkward. It's about the only ones that stands out this way to me. H.1 more than D.1.
  • C: The only one using "JoinXMPP" and not "JoinJabber", but this isn't the issue per se.
This one seems too .. straight, true, even, maybe inflexible. Maybe it's the use of the Serif font. H feels somewhat similar but the Serif font really accentuates it for me.
  • B: I don't understand the shape above the logo, it doesn't bring anything to mind.

I like that "JJ" has been reused and converted to these quotes, maybe they could (do?) stand for "starting the dialog", and thus I may prefer ones that contain these quotes, but that's not a show stopper.

Message bubble with smiley and the J's of jj as ears...

As an alternative to using F's font in I, the single quotes of J or K might look great inside I.

I don't like the single quotes in A and H...

I don't like H1/2 because the shield makes me think of anti-virus snakeoil logos.

All the "fuzzy" logos will look very bad on small screens.

If I had to choose I would say L and N are the best.

An F+I alternative to consider.

What would the thing left to the F represent?

I don't like it, but it looks like a mashup of two message bubbles, a star and a smiley.

When playing around with themes I realized that something that can be re-arranged into a vertical horizontal logo and could also be used without the text as an favicon would be probably good, see: #50

Sorry I actually meant horizontal. Total brain fart 😰

But yes the first one and the favicon would probably work on a typical horizontal navigation bar.

Lol, well I guess it's already horizontal?

Your example yes, but some of the other proposed ones not. Like the one I adapted for the mockup.

As there was talk about putting all this into a repo, here's all the logo stuff (proposals by Line, fonts, resources + attribution, SVG's and PNG's) in a structured way (+ README.md's).

Also, it includes an avatar for the website repo.
