Without making things too complicated, look into being more intelligent when using multi-column layout.

For example, maybe we could count the number of images in a post and only use 2 or 3 columns when there's more than 1 or 2 images, or count characters/words to decide if more than one column is needed.

Obviously you could go too far with this, so tread lightly.

Another note regarding columns, they don't handle tables very elegantly (or at least, at the moment, a post like this that contains one table gets crushed into the first column and looks weird.
