fig

Add GIF reactions to your toots.

fig is a Firefox add-on under development. It aims to allow users to add GIF reactions to their toots on Mastodon, from the native web UI.

FAQ

Isn’t fig a hack?

Yes, it’s. It’s meant to be a temporary solution while the features it presents are not provided as built-in by Mastodon.

Where do the GIFs come from?

giphy.com, a popular GIF source for many apps.

What kind of information is shared with fig when I use it?

  • The authorization keys for posting on your accounts are stored on your Firefox browser (fig itself does not have a server).
  • When you search for a certain GIF (e.g.: “funny”), the keyword is sent along with basic information about your browser to giphy.com.
  • The data collection policy of your instance (server) applies just the same.

As you can see, fig acts simply as a shortcut for easing the download and upload of GIFs, as if you yourself were doing the whole process, except you no longer need to leave the tab your composing from.
