What do you want to address?

  • Bug
  • Feature
  • Suggestion

Describe your matter briefly

Is there a way to implement a markdown viewer when editing, if its a .md file type?

What did you expect?

When opening the editor, it shows the raw markdown file. I was expecting to see an option to view it as one would view the web based version.

Some additional details

  • The version of Gitea you are using: 1.11.3
  • The version of GitNex you are using: 2.5.1 / build 251
  • Phone OS version and model: Razer Phone 2 w/ Android 9 (Pie)
  • The type of certificate you are using (self-signed, signed): Lets Encrypt
  • How you used to log in (via password or token): Token

By editing I assume you mean when creating new file?

Yes, it is doable and can also be extended to issue, pr description, comments etc also.

My suggestion is: after tapping a file to edit it, that there could be an option to “view as...” the selected document in the ‘hamburger’ menu.

Or even better, have a default option to open .md (or any easily formattable) files.

We right now do not have editing file functionality. Do you mean future implementation with md viewing?

OR maybe you can explain the current flow so we can understand better.

My apologies on my lacking descriptions. I have mixed up my assumptions and words, I meant to say view mode, not edit mode.

When I look at the Files tab under any repository, I am able to press to select any of the files in the repo, and it will show the raw output of the file.

This is nice, as I am able to copy text from a raw file. But if its a markdown file it has all of the formatting characters included and looks rough.

I was hoping that there could be an option added alongside ‘Download This File’ to view as a rendered Markdown file. This would make it a lot easier to copy and paste data, since deleting markdown formatting characters is somewhat cumbersome on a mobile device.

I would prefer to have Gitnex default to view rendered .md files when detected. Then have an option alongside ‘Download this file’ to view the raw file. But I feel that is up to the devs and community to coordinate.
