[Feature]: Separate quote count #9792

What feature would you like implemented?

Currently, the number of boosts and quotes are added together and displayed in one place.

But I think it's better to separate them.

Why should we add this feature?

The number of quotes is one reason to decide whether to open the post page.

I'm not sure how to implement this. Perhaps we should wait until #9712 is resolved...?

#9712 shouldnt be blocking this, as it's just for better CI and DX. the calckey-js repo/package still exists

Thanks. I'll think more about it. (I still don't have the big picture of the entire program 😅)

Other possible ways to improve this:

In the popup when you hover over boosts, usernames who quoted instead of boosting could appear with the quote icon before the username

Also, @thatonecalculator wanted to add boosts to the "Reactions" option under the three dots in posts, it could display them there separately.

Not sure if these two changes would be good enough for what you're asking, but I think they would make a significant difference. You see, the problem is that you can have the boost and quote buttons together (I actually prefer it this way, this is how we have it set as default in our instance, for a more compact layout). So it would be possible to do it like you suggest, and I agree, but it won't make a difference to all users.

I don't understand why it's important to distinguish boosts from quotes in the meter ?

Since boosting and quoting are two different things.

Yeah but why is it important to know for a particular post how many boost and how many quotes and not both in one meter ? Compared to the (small) additional visual clutter.
It's always "how many times this was shared", so I don't see the point.

This is my personal experience, but I often open a post with several boosts expecting to see quotes. But sometimes there are no quotes for that post, and I'm disappointed.

So you're searching for replies to that post ?

Maybe it would be useful to count these as replies in that case ? Or maybe both, as it's a boost as well as a reply 🤔 (but not 100% of the time)

Replies and quotes are different, so I don't think counting them together is good.
BTW, to me, it's okay as long as I can check if there are quotes before opening the post page. And that's why I'm okay with @panos 's idea. But I also think this UI is pretty neat (for those separating boost and quote buttons).
