[Feature request] Number of days displayed for the weather forecast #17

In the main overview of your weather app, you can reduce (or even better configure) the number of days for the weather forecast, because the icons and the font is very small and therefore hard to read. Ideally I would prefer a display of 2-3 days. This would leave more space for the display of each day.

For the location search I would also have a suggestion for improvement. The input field for the location is also very small, you could replace it with a popup window.

Apart from that I think your weather app is very well done, because it concentrates on the essentials.

It would be nice if you could include this feature in your app.

Thank you for your feedback!

Just to be sure I get you right: in the main app, each time interval (displays 1h or 6h) should be displayed larger, so that it is better to read? (Meaning that you see fewer intervals at once, but they are bigger.)

The point about the popup window is clear to me.

How large/small is your device? I currently take a 5 inch and 7 inch device as references and for testing, perhaps there are some sizes/resolutions where the current design is not good?

Thanks for the quick response.

Yes, it would be better if the font size and icons were displayed larger. I have a Oneplus 3T with a display size of 5.5 inches. On this device four days are displayed for the weather forecast (see screenshot). So everything is displayed very small and unreadable.

Maybe it would be better if only two days or max. three days are displayed, so that there is more space for the display.

This is an individual matter, so such changes should at most be optional and not affect those who are satisfied with the current display.

This can be quite easily accomplished using different layouts.

My idea is to make a layout that takes more space (and uses larger text size), but this would be an option that can be activated in the settings, not the default.

Such a layout could also take in account the request for a larger wind symbol, see #21 .

An other point (not yet addressed from others...) is that in landscape mode and/or on devices with wide displays (e.g. tablets), the layout is ok but does not use the space as good as it could. So this is also something to work on.

What do you think?

Yes, that's a good idea. I would like the font size to be bigger.

If you could optionally show or hide the weather information that is displayed (like air pressure, wind speed, humidity etc.), it would be perfect.

A lot of weather information can already be disabled in the settings:

In hourly display, right now the list layout prints the date and time quite large and then adds an empty(? could be that this is meant to show current warnings?) line below.

I think one could save up some space here Fri, 16.10.2020, 00:00 for evey entry might be abit too much. Maybe just a single spanning line Friday, 16.10.2020 (date centred, probably some gray shaded background to get a visual spearator) and this one only one once the day changes.

This leaves only the time to display for each entry. Right now the next line reads slightly cloudy <the symbol head> 10° one could change it to 10:00 -- 10°C <the symbol head> slightly cloudy. If the assumed empty line is not required it would save 2 lines in big font per day.

The 2nd "empty line" is not an empty line but some space not used in some of the weather condition icons. See the example, compare 11:00 - 12:00 with 12:00 - 13:00. However, there needs to be some space left because the weather condition text (e.g. "slightly cloudy") sometimes needs two lines.

I will not change this, because the icons follow a standard layout to look nice side by side (see the large widget, for example). Meanwhile, weather warnings have been added here and use this space better, anyway.

The labeling of the time periods needs to stay consistent, otherwise people will lose the quick overview. An additional visual separator to separate days is available in the options (-> Settings, -> Display, -> Separate days).

The day & time (1st line) are being displayed a little bit too large on some devices, this became clear due to some other bug reports. This is adressed here by introducing slighty modified layouts and font sizes if a device has a smallest width below 400dp and/or 320dp. This will be part of the next update to version 0.55.2.

I consider this closed because most of the suggestions have been adressed :-) Thanks again for your feedback!
