If you just have a question, please ask first in the user chatroom in Matrix: #gadgetbridge:matrix.org (web access via Element.io).

Before reporting a bug, please confirm the following:

  • I have read the wiki, and I didn't find a solution to my problem / an answer to my question.
  • I have searched the issues, and I didn't find a solution to my problem / an answer to my question.
  • If you upload an image or other content, please make sure you have read and understood the Codeberg Terms of Use

I got Gadgetbridge from:

  • F-Droid
  • I built it myself from source code (specify tag / commit)

If you got it from Google Play, please note that version is unofficial and not supported here; it's also often quite outdated. Please switch to one of the above versions if you can.

Your issue is:

When I try to start the Cycling feature from my Mi Band 5 the app starts to search for GPS and never gets into recording mode. Is there a fix for that so I can start to record my cycling activity without using the "Indoor Cycling" option that is also provided by Mi Band 5?

Your wearable device is:

Mi Band 5

Your android version is:

Lineage OS 18.1
Android 11

Your Gadgetbridge version is:

0.57.0

Gadgetbridge does not provide GPS data for activity tracking. If you like to make a GPS record of your activity, you can use another sports tracking app and utilize some dedicated Gadgetbridge features that make integration nicer.

The article in the link gives you more details.

hi @vanous thanks so much for the support, i just went through the available, open tracks is too good and fits absolutley fine for my usage, but is there a way to add the cycling data to the gadgetbridges fitness tracking

I was about to write that as well. Having trouble figuring out how the process should look like. Do I enter 'fixed cycling' mode on my device while also logging the time? or can i somehow import the gpx or kmz file from opentrack?

Do you get the cycling activity summary (without gps) in the Sports activities in Gb?

@vanous , if i try using cycling track option on my mi band 6, it stops at acquiring gps data, as gadget bridge doesnt provide the gps data(not supported), the cycling data isnt recorded under the sport activity section on the gadgetbridge

Yes, you would need to use some indoor cycling version of that, if it exists on the band...? Does that work/exist?

@vanous can you maybe clarify which possibilities there are to migrate all of the data into one health information system? are there any recommendations that actually work together with gadgetbridge? is it even necessary? anyhow, I would like to understand how I can use my opentracks data together with the gadgetbridge data and also potentially data from other sources.

@montagsmodell sorry for a late reply. This is not entirely straight forward, because each of the apps does different kind of tracking, uses different methods of data collection and this end up with different "results". One way to do this would be via completely separated (network?) services, see discussion here: #49
