Request for a revival of efforts to support Withings devices

This would involve a revival of the efforts that were in progress to support various Withings devices, and could include support of everything from Withings, from the Activité Pop to the Scanwatch.

Details requested for issue creation

I got Gadgetbridge from:

Your wearable device is:

Withings Activité Pop, firmware version: 1910

OS version: Lineage 15.1

Gadgetbridge version: 0.47.1

Justification for revival of this effort

There is certainly interest for supporting these devices (as can be seen from a quick issues search for “Withings”), however the migration from GitHub to Codeberg may have cut off some contributors, developers and users who were working on this topic of supporting Withings devices.

An example of this is issue 854, where useful investigation was happening but then was cut off basically after migration happened, when a lot of contributors didn’t have Codeberg accounts.

What’s next?

Well let’s get this effort going again! Issue 854 suggested that we were close to some real solutions. At the very least let’s try to get the contributors to have accounts on Codeberg so that they are able to contribute again.

The current last state of the efforts were basically at the point of analysis of Bluetooth communications with a Withings device, however a promising comment was made that the communications was cracked successfully. However, this comment is from user @ragcsalo who appears to have been cut off by the migration! Another user @SZenglein appears also to be capable of contributing effort to this topic, but this user also appears to have been cut off by the migration!

So maybe a first step could be to try to get in touch with these contributors! I have made a first attempt which was not successful. Could others give it a shot?

Sorry about the complication caused by transition from GitHub onto an open platform of Codeberg. I think trying to get the original authors to help further is a very good effort, if anybody get’s back, contributions are welcome.
