Welcome to Codeberg. We would like to invite you to join us in our journey to build and maintain a productive, safe and enduring platform for the collaborative development and maintenance of Open-Source Software and Documentation.
To support our community, we provide the essential infrastructure and organizational framework for the development of Open-Source Projects in decentralized and global communities, and other endeavors which serve this mission. We strive to make and keep educational and informational content from the Projects available on the internet free of charge, in perpetuity.
We welcome you ("you" or the "user") as a contributor, user, editor or reader, and we encourage you to join our community. Before you participate, however, we ask that you please read and agree to the following Terms of Use ("Terms of Use").
All content is stored by community members on the Repository and Version Control System, Wiki, Issue Tracker and other facilities provided on the platform. Contributors own all rights and ownership for content and contributions they provided. Using the platform does not imply any transfer of ownership or copyright.
For Free and Open Software projects (FOSS) as defined by the Free Software Foundation (FSF) and the Open Source Initiative (OSI), Codeberg provides Repository and Version Control, Wiki, and Issue Tracker hosting under certain terms and conditions. These services are referred to as "service", "hosting" and "platform" in this document.
Our service is open for all projects working under a license compatible with either the Open-Source-License definition of the Free Software foundation (FSF) or the Open Source Initiative (OSI).
Generally we do not contribute, monitor, or delete content (with the rare exception of policies like these Terms of Use or legal compliance). This means that editorial control is in the hands of you and your fellow users who create and manage the content.
Codeberg is a non-profit organisation financed by member contributions and donations. The service can only survive as long as member contributions and donations allow us to maintain the necessary infrastructure.
You are responsible for your own actions. Please act responsibly and apply appropriate security measures to protect your own data and account access credentials.
The platform provides public and private repositories. Content in public repositories, wikis and issue trackers is accessible through the public internet. Content in private repositories, wikis and issue trackers is only visible to the owner, to other users the owner has granted access to, and to the platform service maintainers.
Private repositories may be used for example to store keychains in build systems and continuous integration tools, or as staging areas for pre-alpha tests within limited groups. According to our non-monitoring policy, we will not monitor private or public repositories unless there is strong need to investigate in relation to issues threatening our ability to provide the services of this platform, for example:
User-contributed content in all repositories, wikis and issue trackers:
You may close your account at any time. Please be aware that it is your responsibility to remove content and contributions that you no longer wish to persist. All other content previously contributed by you will remain visible to other users of the platform.
In case we have to terminate your account due to infringement of Terms of Use or requirement by legal authorities, only content related to this infringement will be removed from the platform.
The materials on our platform are provided on an 'as is' basis. Further, Codeberg does not warrant or make any representations concerning the accuracy, likely results, or reliability of the use of the materials on its website or otherwise relating to such materials or on any sites linked to this site.
In no event shall Codeberg or its suppliers be liable for any damages (including, without limitation, damages for loss of data or profit, or due to business interruption) arising out of the use or inability to use the materials on Codeberg’s platform, even if Codeberg or a Codeberg-authorized representative has been notified orally or in writing of the possibility of such damage. Because some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on implied warranties, or limitations of liability for consequential or incidental damages, these limitations may not apply to you.
