know estimate of time remaining to complete an import, and option to cancel it
I started importing a github repo 3H ago, and the import is still running, no idea how much more time it will take.
I'd bet the thing is stuck... and would like to know if it really is, and if yes, or if too much time is required, how to cancel it, so that instead I could just git push instead (I'm pretty sure it will take a lot less time).
Imports are restricted by the API rate limits of external platforms (e.g. GitHub, GitLab). It's really hard to tell.
Improvements are hard as long as proprietary platforms enjoy you are vendor locked and don't want you to move away. Gitea is working on restoring GDPR data dumps instead, which might be a good option for the future.
Having a more verbose log of what the migration tool is actually doing might be worth a further look, though.
Deleting a branch is permanent. It CANNOT be undone. Continue?
