Problems with codeberg pages - 404 on files that DO exist in the repository. #714

I am experiencing some problems with codeberg pages.

On at least two of my static sites, I get intermittent problems with files not being available, although the repository has everything.

Current example: https://codeberg.org/jwildeboer/coronamuc

The .domains file is there but codeberg pages refuses to send the page https://coronamuc.de with the error message:

"Page not found!

Sorry, but this page couldn't be found or is inaccessible (421 Misdirected Request - domain not specified in .domains file)."

I have similar intermittent problems with https://jan.wildeboer.net, where in the past few days after an update the main.css file or one of the images resulted in a 404.

Is this a known problem?

(Sometimes it seems to fix itself after a few minutes, as it did with coronamuc just now - maybe a cache problem?)

For me the sites currently seem available. Though I have seen reports about Codeberg being down today on matrix about ~2h ago.
Maybe it's releated to these issues?

Not for the problems I had two days ago :( See attached screenshot. I had to manually fix the repository to get the image working.

And though I mostly like that there are no logfiles or other statistics on codeberg.page, in these cases I do miss being able to take a look at the error log to see if this is a permission issue, really a missing file or something else.

So maybe we're seeing two different issues, or on sunday (two days ago?) you've been seeing Codeberg server issues too, but we don't know about them yet.

But maybe someone from Codebergs infrastructure team can help out here?

The issue seems to be the same. After I update my repository that serves pages on codeberg.page, sometimes some files seem to be missing, causing a 404 when loading the page (or, in the second case where the .domains file seems to be missing, the site doesn't load at all).

In all of these cases, the files are in the repository, typically they haven't been touched for months, so I cannot find a conclusive reason why they are missing.

When I do something in teh repository and git push, the problem somehow dissappears. But at the next git push it might show up again.

All of this makes me think there is some sort of synchronisation/mapping/cache/race condition issue which could be in the codeberg pages server code and not in the repository itself.

But without the error log, I am limited to speculations :(

The current pages implementation is known to have some issues. Stuff going 404 is one of these issues, although im not completely sure if your case is exactly the same.

Afaik @6543 is busy with some refactoring and fixing bugs for pages, so it may be worth to check again when a new pages release is finished.

Codeberg/pages-server#106

esp. caching will be done within the client then ... witch does make code way more streight forward ...
